Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Wednesday issued modified administrative approval for the restoration and comprehensive development of three lakes under the jurisdiction of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
Mir Alam Tank will be restored at Rs 40.25 crore, Raisamudram Cheruvu in Ramachandrapuram at Rs 6.80 crore and Saroornagar large tank in Hyderabad at Rs 15.49 crore. The total amount to restore the three water bodies comes up to a total of Rs 62.54 crore.
Earlier, authorities sanctioned the restoration and development of Durgam Cheruvu, Malka Cheruvu and Nallagandla Cheruvu. But, on request from GHMC, the government modified the earlier administrative approval and replaced it with a fresh list of water bodies suggested by the municipal authorities.
The Chief Engineer, Minor Irrigation (Krishna Basin), will take necessary action to complete the works within the stipulated period and submit the utilisation certificate to the State government.
